Med Åshild Vetrhus

This record consists of traditional music from the Rogaland region in Norway. The album includes both dance music and religious music. "Springar", "halling" and "vals" refers to the type of dance the music accompanies, and "slått" is traditional terminology for "tune". The instruments used on this record in addition to voice is: hardanger fiddle, "langeleik" - a Norwegian zither-like instrument, mouth harp, microtonal mandolin and guitar, and fiddle. The performers have learned the music directly from traditional sources, but most of the material on this record has derived from the study of archive recordings from The archive of traditional music and dance at the Ryfylke Museum. The photographs used on the front and back of this cover also come from archives of the Ryfylke Museum.
