The Norwegian duo Sweetheart follow up their award-winning debut album with the EP «I Remember Us, My Dear» featuring both acoustic melancholy and more optimistic americana.
Earlier this year Sweetheart won a Norwegian Grammy (Spellemann) in the country category for their self-titled debut album which was released in October last year. The album was critically acclaimed for its acoustic melancholy, and the melancholy still murmurs in the background on the upcoming EP «I Remember Us, My Dear». The quiet duo presents some new minimalist and acoustic songs that vibrate calmly in the room, but this time they have also expanded the horizon and made room for drums, bass and a touch of optimism.
The EP was recorded and mixed by Marcus Forsgren in Studio Paradiso in Oslo with the windows wide open, during some hot early summer days in 2021. Forsgren, who has produced several critically acclaimed albums and is known from Jaga Jazzist and The Lionheart Brothers, has produced the EP in collaboration with Sweetheart, and also plays bass.
Sweetheart consists of John-Arne Ø. Gundersen (guitar and vocals) and Anne Mette Hårdnes (piano and vocals). On «I Remember Us, My Dear» they have collaborated with the left-handed guitar hero Stian Jørgen Sveen and the world-famous rhythm machine Christer Engen, formerly Bigbang and Turboneger, on drums and percussion.
