Info:

In June 1981, at the initiative of Frode Nyvold, a group of musicians gathered at a farm in Sauland (Eastern Norway) to record an album of traditional folk music from Agder. After three lively days, the recording was complete, but for reasons now forgotten, the album was never released, and the original tape was lost. Fortunately, a raw mix on cassette survived, and after some modern audio processing, the recordings are finally available on LP and digitally!

"Trioliadam" captures an important period in the modern history of traditional Norwegian folk music, a time of much experimentation and new expressions in ensemble play. Many of the musicians on this album played key roles in shaping the new ensemble forms that emerged during this period, including Egeland/Midtstigen's iconic album "I Heitaste slåtten" and Slinkombas's groundbreaking debut. Trioliadam was recorded a few years after these albums and completes the picture of how young people in 1981 perceived and attempted to recreate the tradition.
